Each Sunday we explore a different topic from the Bible:
What does it SAY? What does it MEAN? How can we APPLY it?
We have commenced a new topic at our Sunday service on the Gospel of Luke. Luke is one of four Gospels in the Bible and the third book in the New Testament. Luke was a Gentile, a medical doctor and an associate of Paul. It is probable that he is the person who wrote this gospel as referenced in Colossians 4:14 by the apostle Paul. The Gospel of Luke focuses on the history of Jesus Christ from His birth and ministry to His crucifixion and resurrection. It also tells of Jesus’s teachings about salvation and His fulfilment of Old Testament prophecies regarding the coming Messiah. It is thought that the Gospel of Luke was written around 60 A.D. specifically for those outside the Jewish faith and culture. It’s been encouraging to learn about the many miracles that Jesus performed and to see the display of his many powers given to him by God which include the authority to forgive sins and the authority to bring peace to people. We are also learning about the principals for living according to God’s way of life and the miracles he can do in our own lives. We hope you will be encouraged as you read this action packed book.
